Constantia Flexibles has taken a major step forward in sustainable packaging innovation with the enhancement of its PPCover technology — a mono-material polypropylene (PP) lidding solution designed to meet recyclability standards without compromising sealing performance.

While PPCover offers clear environmental advantages, integrating it into existing sealing machines posed a technical challenge: maintaining consistent, high-quality seals across various lid materials without introducing inefficiencies or material deformation.

Through the collaborative development of an innovative decontamination technology, currently at an advanced validation stage, both companies are laying the groundwork for the reintroduction of recycled polystyrene into the food circuit, complying with the most demanding safety and quality requirements.

Coveris, a leading European manufacturer of paper and plastics packaging, has partnered with SABIC to launch a groundbreaking circularity project in healthcare packaging.

The initiative successfully demonstrates that used medical plastic packaging can be recycled and transformed back into new, contact-sensitive medical packaging, marking a major step forward in sustainable healthcare solutions.

The pair entered a long-term agreement to procure rPE resin under the brand name, SYNDIGO. Sourced from recycled film and plastic packaging, this post-consumer recycled (PCR) material is a lower-emission alternative to virgin polyethene. It has now been successfully integrated into CNG’s operations.

In a major step forward for sustainable packaging, global carton manufacturer Elopak has teamed up with Orkla Home and Personal Care (OHPC) and materials science giant Dow to launch the industry’s first ever cartons made with a unique combination of recycled and renewable polymers. Dubbed D-PAK™, this new line of eco-conscious cartons is now rolling out across the Nordics.

Milliken & Company has launched Millad ClearX 9000, a new clarifying technology designed for polypropylene that provides high transparency while using lower amounts of additives.

This development targets food packaging, home storage containers, and medical products, where clear appearance and safety matter most.

The technology builds on Milliken’s existing Millad platform but operates at reduced loading levels, which cuts the quantity of clarifying agents needed in production.
