This process converts used plastics into circular naphtha feedstock, which is then used to produce new Certified Circular Polyolefin Resins. These resins have properties equivalent to virgin plastics and are certified under the ISCC PLUS standard across the entire supply chain, making SCGC the first in Thailand’s petrochemical industry to achieve this. This certification ensures the packaging can be used safely for food products, free from harmful chemical residues or contaminants that could be hazardous to health or taint the food.

A new pour for Indian spirits

German-based beverage and food manufacturing company Krones on Thursday began setting up its bottling machines manufacturing plant in Karnataka. Being developed at a cost of Rs 315 crore in Vemagal, Kolar district of the state, the facility is expected to generate 550 jobs.

Following a successful pilot that began in 2024, Swedish nutraceutical company Great Earth converted its entire line of supplement jars to fiber-based screw caps developed by Blue Ocean Closures (BOC). This marks one of the first, if not the first, full commercial rollouts of molded fiber closures in the health and wellness sector.

According to Blue Ocean CEO Lars Sandberg, the pilot launch on Great Earth’s top-selling magnesium supplement was “very positively received by both the market and other actors in the value chain.” 

“Although people initially claim not to pay much attention to mascots on packaging, their consumer choices often reveal a preference for such products,” Ingrida Košičiarová, Zdenka Kádeková and Dávid Takács, the study authors and researchers at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, tell Packaging Insights.
