
Amcor , a global leader in responsible packaging, has teamed up with Riverside Natural Foods, a leading certified organic snack producer, to launch MadeGood Trail Mix Bars in AmFiber™ paper-based packaging. Unveiled during Earth Month, this category-first innovation offers curbside recyclability without compromising product performance—setting a new standard in sustainable snack packaging.
A Breakthrough in Paper-Based Packaging
The new wrapper uses Amcor’s AmFiber™, a high-performance paper-based laminate made with FSC®-certified (C206475) fiber. Compared to conventional bar wraps, the solution reduces virgin plastic content by 77% and is certified by Western Michigan University to meet stringent repulpability standards, ensuring compatibility with the paper recycling stream.

Performance Without Compromise
Amcor’s R&D team worked closely with Riverside Natural Foods to ensure the new wrapper met key functional and aesthetic requirements—maintaining high-speed production capabilities and premium graphic quality for strong shelf presence.
To validate the design, both companies conducted an independent home usage study, where consumers interacted with the product in real-world settings. The results were compelling:
- 79% of participants said the new paper wrapper was “somewhat better” or “much better” than typical granola bar packaging
- 79% also indicated they would choose this product over one that does not feature recyclable packaging
