Nissha advances pharmaceutical packaging with sustainable Pulp-Injection technology

Share:

Nissha is redefining pharmaceutical packaging through its ecosense portfolio, introducing Pulp-Injection technology—a high-performance, fibre-based solution designed to replace conventional plastic packaging in medical and healthcare applications.

Developed specifically for industries requiring precision, hygiene, and product protection, Pulp-Injection enables the production of pharmaceutical trays, device components, and secondary packaging using natural materials such as pulp and starch. This innovative approach delivers the structural strength and design flexibility of traditional plastics while significantly reducing environmental impact.

At the core of the innovation is a proprietary injection molding process that allows the creation of thin, rigid, and highly precise packaging components. With wall thicknesses as low as 0.6–1.0 mm, the material provides excellent impact resistance and dimensional accuracy—critical for protecting sensitive medical devices such as auto-injectors, syringes, and diagnostic tools.

Unlike traditional molded pulp, Pulp-Injection offers advanced design capabilities, including ribs, flanges, and embossed features, enabling seamless integration into automated pharmaceutical packaging lines. This ensures that manufacturers can transition away from plastic without compromising efficiency or performance.

Sustainability is a key advantage of the solution. Made from over 90% bio-based materials, Pulp-Injection is recyclable within paper streams, biodegradable, and free from microplastics, supporting circular economy goals and helping pharmaceutical companies meet evolving global regulations.

In addition to environmental benefits, the technology meets the stringent requirements of the pharmaceutical sector. Production in cleanroom environments and low fiber dust generation ensure high hygiene standards, making it suitable for sensitive healthcare applications.

The innovation has already gained industry recognition, including awards for advancing sustainable pharmaceutical packaging. By combining precision engineering, regulatory readiness, and circular material design, Nissha’s Pulp-Injection technology is setting a new benchmark for eco-friendly pharmaceutical packaging solutions.
