As squeeze bottles continue to gain traction in the olive oil aisle, Bertolli is pairing format innovation with a material shift: the Dress & Drizz extra-virgin olive oil bottle is made from 100% recycled PET (rPET), marking another step in the brand’s broader sustainability strategy.
Polish co-packer FILLSY has today announced the opening of a manufacturing factory in Żyrardów, Poland, in partnership with Swedish packaging-tech company, Meadow. The factory will aid the production of Meadow’s infinitely recyclable aluminium pre-fill solution, The MEADOW KAPSUL™. The project is financed by FILLSY who will have invested 4 million euro by the end of 2027, with plans to invest a further 10 million euro to develop production lines and plant expansion by the end of 2030.

DS Smith's design team reviewed several single-use plastic packages previously used by Serele Super for its tomato range and developed four fibre-based corrugated cardboard punnets to replace them. The new formats are designed to be compatible with existing production lines and are fully recyclable at the end of life. The punnets are FSC certified and intended to simplify packing operations.

Plastic card manufacturer Placard and packaging design firm Burgopak partnered to create a premium, interactive mailer for fintech startup Emerge’s new bank card.
The pack is made from 300 GSM artboard printed with holographic foil and spot UV, delivering a tactile, high-end feel intended to elevate what is typically a routine card unboxing experience.
Sasha Fowler, creative director at Emerge, who led the creative direction and concept development behind the pack, says that from the outset the team wanted the bank card’s packaging to be an extension of Emerge’s brand.
BIOVALSA will develop a new process that will enable the use of agricultural waste to manufacture bioplastics, a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based synthetics. This initiative aims to develop alternative routes for recovering value from rice straw biomass, thereby avoiding the use of costly chemical compounds. Specifically, the idea is to replace the usual treatments with others that allow the three fractions (cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin) that make up the lignocellulosic biomass to be recovered for use in various applications of interest to the bioplastics industry.
In the new packaging, the DS Smith design team have used fibre-based corrugated cardboard materials to replace Expanded Polyethylene (EPE foam) in Raymarine’s previous solution. They can ensure that the radar products are provided with a maximum protection against vibrations, unforeseeable physical impacts, and knocks, during their transit and transportation to local and international customers.
