Jindal Films Expands BOPP Portfolio with New Barrier Solutions for Recyclable Packaging !

Jindal Films has expanded its BOPP film portfolio with a range of new high-performance barrier films designed to support recyclable mono-material polypropylene (PP) packaging structures as brand owners prepare for upcoming sustainability and recyclability requirements under the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Among the key launches are Metallyte 18MML883 and Alox-Lyte 18AOL893, developed for three-ply liquid packaging laminates used in applications such as condiments, sauces, juices, fruit purees, and aseptic beverages. The new films are engineered for cold-fill, hot-fill, pasteurized, and aseptic packaging formats, delivering enhanced barrier performance compared with conventional vacuum-coated structures.

Jindal has also introduced Bicor 25 and 30MBH568, transparent PP mono-material barrier films designed for high-speed horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) applications, particularly in bakery, biscuit, and dry food packaging. The films utilize advanced water-based coating technology to provide sealability and medium-barrier performance while maintaining recyclability within existing polypropylene recycling streams.

A notable feature of the MBH568 range is its compliance with the recently published CEN EN 18120-7 Design for Recycling Standard, enabling converters to replace PVdC-coated films and other non-recyclable clear barrier laminates with a single-web recyclable PP structure.

The latest developments were showcased at Interpack 2026, where Jindal highlighted its broader strategy of replacing conventional multi-material laminates containing PET, aluminum foil, paper, or EVOH with recyclable mono-material polypropylene solutions. The initiative reflects growing industry demand for packaging formats that combine high barrier performance with circular economy objectives.

As the packaging industry moves toward stricter recyclability and recycled-content targets, Jindal's new barrier film technologies demonstrate how mono-material flexible packaging can increasingly deliver the performance required for both liquid and dry food applications without compromising sustainability goals.
