Recyclable, Deinkable Stand-Up Pouch Wins Gold in German Packaging Award Sustainability Category

In a breakthrough development, a fully recyclable mono-material PE pouch has been created that has similar properties to barely recyclable multi-material laminated pouches. The new pouches utilize the latest polymers, inks, functional coatings, adhesives and conversion technology and were the product of a unique value chain collaboration of ExxonMobil, Henkel, Kraus Folie, Siegwerk and Windmöller & Hölscher.

Chase Plastics partnering with Summit Systems and Ocean Integrity in effort to recover ocean plastics

In doing so, Chase Plastics will aim to ensure that recovered ocean LDPE is recycled so that it can usefully contribute to the Circular Economy. Once recycled, the resultant rPE will be available to purchase directly from Chase Plastics or via Summit Systems who will also distribute the product.

Greenback acquires Enval in chemical recycling combination

London-based Greenback Recycling Technologies Ltd. has acquired fellow United Kingdom-based plastics recycling technology provider Enval Ltd.

Two companies have merged their operations, "creating an industry leader in next-generation recycling of plastics,” Greenback says. The acquisition takes place following the inauguration of Greenback’s recycling plant in Cuautla, México, that uses the Enval technology.

The combined company will be headed by Greenback CEO Philippe von Stauffenberg.

AIPIA and World Packaging Organisation agree MoU to promote sustainable and smart packaging

AIPIA, the Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association and WPO, the World Packaging Organisation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to further their collaboration in sharing ideas on Smart Packaging and the science that underpins it. This will include WPO supporting AIPIA on the technology of material science, which is particularly important in active packaging. In turn AIPIA will support WPO’s agenda of encouraging sustainable and appropriate packaging innovation.
