The new security label wraps around the vial up to the level of the cap. To open the vial, a label-integrated tear strip has to be peeled off that cannot be resealed unnoticed. In addition, a warning message clearly indicating that the vial has been opened emerges. This first-opening indication can optionally be augmented by a void effect were previously invisible lettering or symbols separate from an indicator field.

It is extremely important for the success of medical treatment that patients adhere exactly to the medication prescribed to them. Numerous studies prove that adherence to therapy pays off. But studies also show that many patients ignore their treatment plans – out of stubbornness, carelessness or excessive demands. This so-called non-adherence not only jeopardizes the success of treatment, but also causes immense costs for the health care systems.

When you know that up to 94% of inhaler users make mistakes using their devices, you have to think differently. When up to 60% of patients don’t adhere to their medication, you have to ask why. 3M, with its long history of expertise in inhalation, saw the need for a simple, intuitive, connected device that may help reduce mistakes in use, engage patients in self-care, and connect patients with their caregivers. 1 Lavorini et al., 2008. Respir. Med. 102(4):593-604. 2 Restrepo et al., 2008. Int. J. Chron. Obstruct. Pulmon. Dis.
