Thailand’s flexible packaging industry is entering a new growth phase, propelled by sustainability investments, high-barrier materials, and advanced manufacturing technologies. A recent DataM Intelligence study projects a 3.04% CAGR through 2031, supported by rising demand in food, personal care, and healthcare applications.

SCG Packaging is leading the sustainability push, launching a biodegradable flexible packaging line at its Rayong plant in August 2025, with targeted output exceeding 20,000 tons annually. Thai Wacoal’s July 2025 partnership with Amcor is driving innovation in premium high-barrier films, while Sealed Air Thailand’s new automated Chonburi facility—opened in June 2025—has reduced energy consumption by 15% and accelerated supply capabilities for food and beverage clients.

Expansion through M&A remains strong. SCG Packaging finalized its takeover of Vietnam’s Duy Tan Plastic in June 2025, following its 2024 acquisition of VEM-Thailand, bolstering its position in rigid, medical, and high-performance packaging across ASEAN.

Key market players include Amcor, InnoPack, Huhtamaki, Prepack Thailand, Pongsilp Plastic, Siam Flexible Industries, Sealed Air, Toppan, and Tetra Pak. Demand is particularly rising for pouches, bags, roll stock, blister packs, and biodegradable composite materials.
