KIND® Snacks Unveils Curbside Recyclable Paper Wrapper in U.S. Retail Pilot

KIND® Snacks has introduced a groundbreaking curbside recyclable paper wrapper for its popular Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt bars. This pilot program, a collaboration with Whole Foods Market and packaging partner Printpack, marks a significant stride toward sustainable packaging in the snack industry.

The new wrapper is crafted from pulpable paper and has received pre-qualification from How2Recycle for curbside recycling. Consumers can find these specially wrapped bars at select Whole Foods Market locations across Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Southern California, Louisiana, Arizona, and Nevada from May 1 through October 1, 2025, while supplies last.

This initiative builds upon KIND's 2023 e-commerce pilot, which provided valuable insights into shelf life, transit durability, and consumer feedback. The current in-store pilot aims to further assess the wrapper's performance and gather consumer responses in a retail environment.

"Our collaboration with KIND represents a true paradigm shift in sustainable packaging," said Sandra Lewis, Principal Packaging Advisor at Whole Foods Market. "Through their innovative development of this recyclable paper wrapper, they're fundamentally reimagining how snack foods can be packaged."

KIND's commitment to sustainability includes a goal to ensure all packaging is designed for recyclability by 2030. This pilot program reflects the brand's dedication to environmental stewardship and innovation in packaging solutions.
