Amcor, a global leader in developing and producing a diverse offering of responsible packaging solutions, today announced the launch of a proprietary healthcare lidding technology that will be utilized for combination products – those consisting of two or more regulated components (device, drug or biologic).
Aimed at pharmaceutical manufacturers, the new technology incorporates a 3D sensor to provide volumetric measurement in order to assess the integrity of a range of pharmaceutical solid dose and flexible barrier packaging.
The first application of the new technology will be released with Sepha’s latest model of non-destructive blister leak testers, the VisionScan 3D. This machine will use the 3D technology in combination with differential pressure and vacuum to detect leaks in individual blister pockets as low as 5μm.
The aseptic packaging process is used for various food products and beverages, including milk, soup, tomatoes, pudding and several others. It’s also used in the pharmaceutical industry to ensure that medications aren’t polluted with harmful bacteria.
