PaBoCo is a step-by-step innovation concept focused on scaling and product functionality, focusing on liquid goods such as carbonated and still drinks, and beauty products among others. Each pioneer brand will develop and design their own paper bottle to meet the needs of their category. The first development for L'Oreal is underway with PaBoCo to target the group's first launches in 2021. Marketing has reached out to L'Oreal for additional information. This comes shortly after it partnered with cosmetic packaging company Albea to develop the first paper-based cosmetic tube, which is scheduled to debut in 2020. Most of the plastic used for the tube is replaced with a bio-based and certified paper-like material. The innovation, L'Oreal said, is designed as an alternative solution to certain types of cosmetic packaging. Philippe Thuvien, VP packaging and development of L'Oreal, said previously that by working upstream and closely with Albea to co-develop this breakthrough innovation, it aims to create a new paper-based tube packaging for our cosmetic packaging. "This innovative, alternative solution is an integral part of the group's packaging strategy," he added. Since 2007, L'Oreal has been working to improve the environmental footprint of its packaging. This initiative is part of its strategic sustainable?development programme "Sharing Beauty With All". The programme is based on three levels - respect the environment and biodiversity; reduce its packaging by volume and weight and limit itself to the most useful components and optimal dimensions; and replace high-impact materials and promote the circular economy.
