Kinnie Unveils Bold New Look to Embrace Its Free-Spirited Heritage !

A striking new visual identity has been unveiled for Kinnie, Malta’s iconic bittersweet beverage, as part of a bold rebrand by strategic design agency Bluemarlin. The refresh seeks to celebrate Kinnie’s heritage while positioning it confidently for a global stage.

The updated design introduces a larger, sunlit circle that casts a warm glow over the logo, evoking the carefree energy of sunny days. A richer color palette featuring oranges, rusts, burgundies, and teals reflects the drink’s distinctive bittersweet character, while painterly textures and expressive brushstrokes add movement and creativity throughout the brand world.

Typography plays a key role in the rebrand. Bold slab-serif fonts are paired with ‘Kinnie Kreativity’ graffiti-style elements, injecting energy and a sense of playful disruption. The result is a dynamic and handcrafted visual language that mirrors Kinnie’s free-spirited personality.

Andrew Eyles, Co-founder of Bluemarlin, explained:

“We helped Simonds Farsons Cisk understand that behaving like a global brand doesn’t mean becoming generic. It means amplifying and dramatizing what makes you unique and unforgettable.”

Samantha Dumont, Bluemarlin’s Executive Creative Director, added:

“The challenge was to modernize Kinnie—clearing away visual clutter and reimagining the brand in a way that feels bold, confident, and unique, while staying true to the Kinnie customers know and love.”

For Simonds Farsons Cisk, the transformation is about celebrating authenticity, not imitation. Susan Weenink Camilleri, Head of Sales and Marketing, said:

“Bluemarlin have been trusted brand guardians for Kinnie for years. What we value most is their ability to honor heritage while preparing the brand for the bigger stage. This rebrand isn’t about mimicking global giants – it’s about embracing who we are and expressing it with imagination, irreverence, and iconic taste.”

The new identity signals an exciting chapter for Kinnie—one that amplifies its unique character while opening doors to new markets and generations of fans worldwide.
