Components manufacturer Shimano has announced that it will transition to more sustainable, eco-friendly packaging, as around 70 bike companies pledged this week to reduce plastic packaging and remove unnecessary packaging from the supply chain, in a bid to make Europe “cleaner, greener and more liveable”.

“Conventional flexible food packaging often consists of several laminated film layers of different chemical natures. Plastic plays a significant role in preventing food waste. It has an exceptional ability to keep out air, moisture and bacteria that can cause products to go off before they’re cooked or eaten. And it’s often the most efficient and cost-effective material to package food for transportation and storage.

In a recent survey by Boston Consulting Group of 15,000 people globally, 83% of millennial and Gen Z consumers said they’d be willing to pay more for products that came in sustainable packaging.

A month ago, nations came together at UNEA-5.2 in Nairobi and agreed to begin work on a legally binding agreement to tackle plastic waste. This was seen as a significant step forward by the businesses and organizations that had called for a UN treaty leading up to the outcome.

First things first – how are you and your colleagues? Could you let us know about your personal experience of the past few weeks?

Frankly, I believed that Russia would not wage such a large-scale war with Ukraine. Especially such a treacherous attack. Although my personal and my family things were ready at home.

P&G’s Lenor brand has unveiled two new packaging innovations. To start us off, could you tell us about the first one?

In December 2020, a new MVTR test is added by United States Pharmacopeia (USP) to determine the Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate (MVTR) of the single unit, a unit-dose container such as Blister. This new test method is added to General Chapter/671/Container performance testing in which usually MVTR test in blister with filled desiccant and this method is being used since 1970 now in the new method instead of the desiccant now water is being used.
