Less CO₂, More Performance: SÜDPACK Launches CarbonLite

Share:

SÜDPACK is taking another bold step toward sustainable packaging with the introduction of CarbonLite®, a new product family built around its high-performance tubular pouch films. Previously part of the premium Pure-Line range, these advanced films are now consolidated under one brand delivering lighter, more recyclable, and more efficient packaging solutions for the food industry.

Engineered from PP and PE mono-materials, CarbonLite® films are compatible with both horizontal and vertical flow pack machines and can be processed into flowpacks, doypacks, block-bottom pouches, and even spouted pouches. Their biggest strength lies in their ability to combine material efficiency with recyclability, resulting in a significantly smaller carbon footprint compared to conventional multi-material laminates or heavier trays while also helping reduce disposal costs.

One standout example: a CarbonLite PurePP flowpack uses up to 60% less material than a traditional tray and reaches recyclability rates of up to 92%, confirmed by external testing. For horizontal PE flowpacks, SÜDPACK has further optimized film thickness without sacrificing barrier protection cutting material usage by an additional 10%.

Wide Range of Applications

The CarbonLite® series is designed for versatility. From cheese, baguettes, and coffee in PE flowpacks to meat, snacks, and confectionery in PP formats, these films adapt seamlessly across product categories. They can even be transformed into stable block-bottom coffee pouches or convenient spouted packs for purées and liquids.

No matter the application, the films maintain precisely tuned barrier properties ensuring reliable protection against oxygen and moisture. Optional anti-fog features enhance product visibility, while robust sealing performance guarantees reliability on high-speed packaging lines, even when incorporating zippers, valves, or spouts made from the same mono-materials.

Beyond the Carbon Footprint

SÜDPACK’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond raw materials. With its SPQ printing technology, the company reduces ink and solvent consumption while delivering vibrant, high-quality graphics. Customers also benefit from SÜDPACK’s EcoTrace™ life cycle assessment service, which provides in-depth analysis of environmental impacts across packaging concepts empowering brands to make truly informed choices.

Recognized as a Platinum-rated company by EcoVadis in 2025 and validated by the SBTi for its ambitious CO₂ reduction goals, SÜDPACK continues to set benchmarks in both packaging innovation and corporate responsibility.

With CarbonLite®, the message is clear: less CO₂, more performance, and a future-ready solution for food packaging.
