Lecta, a specialist in the design and development of paper-based solutions for flexible packaging, has expanded its Metalvac range with the launch of Metalvac Ice Cream—a new recyclable metallized paper specifically engineered for frozen food applications such as ice cream cones.

Designed to meet today’s demands for technical performance, industrial efficiency, and sustainability, Metalvac Ice Cream offers a more responsible alternative to conventional multi-material laminate structures widely used in the sector.

High Performance with Sustainability at Its Core

Available in 123 gsm, Metalvac Ice Cream delivers excellent print quality on its metallized side and is compatible with offset, flexographic, and rotogravure printing technologies. Its water-vapor barrier properties ensure optimal preservation of wafer cones, even in direct contact with the paper, maintaining product quality throughout the entire supply chain.

The material’s excellent runnability enables smooth processing on standard high-speed packing lines, making it a reliable and efficient solution for industrial-scale operations.

Recyclable by Design

Metalvac Ice Cream is fully recyclable within the paper and cardboard recycling stream, in compliance with CEPI recyclability standards. With a very low aluminum content of just 0.08 gsm, the paper achieves high barrier performance without compromising recyclability—supporting circular economy principles and reducing environmental impact.

Part of a Versatile Metallized Paper Portfolio

The Metalvac range includes multiple paper grades offering:

  • Heat-sealability
  • Barriers to light, water vapor, oxygen, and aroma
  • Resistance to moisture and grease (no PFAS added)

These high-vacuum metallized papers are designed for adaptability and efficiency, ensuring consistent performance across a wide range of flexible packaging applications.

Certified Quality, Safety, and Responsibility

All Metalvac products are manufactured in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety standards (FSSC 22000). Production also complies with:

  • ISO 14001 & EMAS (Environmental Management)
  • ISO 50001 (Energy Efficiency)
  • ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
  • ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety)

Additionally, the range is available upon request with PEFC or FSC® C011032 Chain of Custody certifications, reinforcing Lecta’s commitment to responsible sourcing.

Advancing Sustainable Flexible Packaging

With the launch of Metalvac Ice Cream, Lecta continues to demonstrate its commitment to responsible innovation, offering the packaging industry a high-performance, recyclable solution that supports the transition toward a more sustainable future.
