From May 7 to 13, Henkel Adhesive Technologies will present its range of adhesives and coatings for sustainable packaging at Interpack, booth D45 in hall 10. The company will highlight solutions that deliver strong performance while reducing CO₂ emissions, improving recyclability, and supporting compliance with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
Henkel will showcase Technomelt Supra 130 Cool, a hot melt adhesive used in cartons, trays, and folding boxes, which offers at least a 20% lower CO₂ footprint. This improvement is achieved by gradually replacing fossil-based raw materials with renewable alternatives and using more energy-efficient production processes. The company is also upgrading other existing adhesives to make them more sustainable without compromising quality.
In flexible packaging, Henkel will introduce Loctite Liofol LA 7837 / LA 6265, a solvent-free adhesive system designed for high-temperature applications such as retort pouches, microwaveable packaging, and pharmaceutical packs. Since it does not require an energy-intensive drying step, it helps reduce energy use and emissions while maintaining safety, durability, and processing efficiency. The system is compatible with both traditional laminates and newer polyolefin-based structures, supporting the shift toward more sustainable materials.
To support PPWR-compliant packaging, Henkel will also present coating technologies that give fiber-based packaging strong barrier properties against water, humidity, oils, and fats, while remaining sealable and recyclable in existing paper recycling streams. This makes fiber-based packaging a more sustainable alternative to plastic.
Additionally, Henkel’s Packaging Recyclability Assessment Center in Düsseldorf offers recyclability testing based on recognized protocols and certification by independent experts. This helps manufacturers evaluate and improve the recyclability of their packaging during the development stage.
For the growing e-commerce sector, Henkel will display its Technomelt E-COM portfolio, designed for automated shipping packaging systems. These hot melt adhesives support custom-sized boxes and mailers, enabling faster production—up to 1,000 boxes per hour—while promoting right-sized packaging that reduces material use, shipping volume, and overall CO₂ emissions.
Overall, Henkel aims to support the packaging industry’s transition toward more sustainable solutions by combining proven performance with science-based innovations across the value chain.
