Berlin Packaging, the world’s largest Hybrid Packaging Supplier® specializing in glass, plastic, and metal packaging and closures, makes its debut at Wine Paris, the leading international event for wine and spirits professionals. At the show, the company is presenting its latest portfolio of innovative packaging solutions designed specifically for the wine and spirits market.
Elevating Design Through the “Sculpting” Concept
Berlin Packaging is taking innovation to the next level with the introduction of “Sculpting”, a design-driven concept that merges aesthetics with functionality. Developed to accelerate time-to-market while responding to evolving premiumization trends, Sculpting enables brands to create bottles that stand out not only visually, but also through touch—delivering a distinctive identity and a premium sensory experience.
Through targeted interventions on shapes and surface textures, Sculpting enhances packaging already optimized for industrial production. The approach introduces exclusive, bespoke details without compromising technical performance or requiring changes to filling lines, secondary packaging, or development timelines.
“At Berlin Packaging, our goal is to truly understand our clients and transform their vision into tailored packaging solutions,” said Kristian Van de Cauter, General Manager France. “In wine and spirits, this means balancing economic viability, technical excellence, and strategic value. Our philosophy is built on three pillars—heritage, innovation, and sustainability—and the solutions we are presenting here embody that approach.”
Studio One Eleven: From Vision to Market-Ready Packaging
All concepts are developed within Studio One Eleven, Berlin Packaging’s design and innovation hub that combines the creativity of a design agency with manufacturing precision. Studio One Eleven oversees the entire development journey—from initial concept and advanced prototyping to technical validation, visual identity, and decoration for both primary and secondary packaging.
This integrated model allows producers to arrive with a brief and leave with tangible outcomes, including concrete proposals and, in many cases, 3D prototypes ready for evaluation. While long established in the spirits sector, this approach is now increasingly being adopted in wine, offering a seamless path from concept to shelf-ready packaging. What distinguishes Studio One Eleven is its ability to transform personalization into a functionally distinctive and scalable asset.
“Sculpting” in Action: Fast Bespoke Solutions for Spirits
The first tangible expression of Sculpting is showcased through the iconic Nocturne bottle—an established classic in the spirits world. While preserving its timeless silhouette and original dimensions, the Sculpted Nocturne introduces refined design details that refresh its appearance without requiring changes to existing production processes.
A standout feature is the optimization of the glass base, available in four visually distinct versions. This redesign reduces weight and material usage while maintaining strength and quality. Each variant can be paired with Vinolok glass closures, featuring coordinated designs and sealing rings made from EVA, a recyclable plastic that balances aesthetics, performance, and sustainability.
Ribs: Texture as a Strategic Design Element
Within the Sculpting framework, Berlin Packaging has reinterpreted four iconic spirits bottles—Alfie, Helium, Essence, and Belleville—by introducing refined surface textures that enhance tactile and visual appeal while preserving recognizability. The new rib designs, available in slim, clean, bold, and oblique variations, add character without impacting functionality or compatibility with standard decoration techniques.
A concrete example is La Liquoristerie de Provence, a heritage brand producing liqueurs exclusively from natural Provençal ingredients using traditional distillation methods. Seeking to modernize its image while honoring its artisanal roots, the brand selected the Helium Ribs bottle to support its positioning in contemporary mixology and gastronomy. The result is packaging that signals premium evolution while remaining authentic to its origins.
This project exemplifies Berlin Packaging’s commitment to helping brands reposition and grow by transforming packaging into a strategic business tool—one that reflects heritage, ambition, and market relevance.
