Neutrogena Launches 'Break the Rules' Brand Mission to Champion Science-Backed Skincare

Neutrogena has unveiled its new global brand mission, "Break the Rules," a campaign designed to encourage consumers to move beyond beauty myths and social media trends by embracing dermatologist-backed, science-driven skincare solutions. The initiative reinforces the brand's commitment to making clinically proven skincare more accessible, understandable, and effective for consumers.

The campaign debuts with a focus on Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol Regenerating Cream, addressing one of the most common consumer concerns surrounding retinol—achieving visible anti-aging benefits without excessive irritation. According to Neutrogena, consumer insights and social listening revealed that while interest in retinol continues to grow, many users remain uncertain about incorporating the ingredient into their skincare routines.

Chris Riat, Global Neutrogena Brand Leader, said the new platform reflects the brand's 90-year legacy of dermatologist-developed skincare and aims to help consumers cut through the overwhelming amount of skincare advice circulating across social media, AI tools, and influencer content. The campaign emphasizes evidence-based innovation over viral beauty trends, positioning scientific credibility at the center of skincare decision-making.

As part of the rollout, the "Break the Rules" campaign will run across television and digital platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Neutrogena also plans to expand the initiative through creator collaborations and experiential marketing activations, including its presence as the official skincare and suncare sponsor at Lollapalooza, where consumers will be able to experience the brand's products firsthand.

With the launch of "Break the Rules," Neutrogena aims to strengthen its position as a trusted authority in skincare by combining decades of dermatological expertise with culturally relevant storytelling that empowers consumers to make informed skincare choices based on science rather than trends.
