The Midlands Packaging Society hosts a conference on ‘The Cost of Sustainability’

Presentations include:

* Harshal Gore, Head of Strategy and External Relations, PEPR, DEFRA: Latest developments from DEFRA in the field of sustainable packaging.

* Eunomia, Closed loop recycling.: Are social-ecological problem solvers and researchers, who combine practical consultancy experience and in-depth knowledge with an active role in policy. Strengthening both the public and private sectors – with pragmatic, science-based solutions that reduce human impact and protect the planet.

*Gary Tee, Tipa Compostable products: Their flexible packaging is designed to have the same end-of-life as organic material, while retaining the qualities of conventional plastics that consumers and brands have come to rely on, such as durability, transparency, barrier, sealability, printability and shelf life.

*James Pryor, Touch Design: Designing with the climate in mind. Achieving business transformation and breakthrough innovation through physical packaging and product design.

* Aaron Tucker, Michigan State University, USA: Looking to the future! He will examine the latest research and trends shaping the future of packaging conducted by faculty from MSU’s School of Packaging.

* Nikki Clark, Loughborough University: Mapping the value of sustainable design. Exploring the four different perspectives on value (economic, psychological, sociological and environmental) and their impact when developing a reusable packaging service.
