Henkel has introduced a new cold seal solution specifically developed for barrier-coated paper packaging, helping bridge a key technological gap as the industry shifts from plastic to paper-based materials.
The product, Loctite Liofol CS 7106 RE, comes at a time when manufacturers are facing growing regulatory pressure from the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, alongside rising consumer demand for recyclable packaging. Industry data indicates that over 70% of global consumers now prioritize recyclable packaging formats.
The solution enables secure sealing without the need for heat, making it particularly suitable for temperature-sensitive products such as snacks, ice cream, and confectionery. By eliminating heat from the sealing process, it helps preserve product quality and aroma while minimizing mechanical stress on paper substrates.
Part of Henkel’s recycling-compatible adhesive portfolio, the product has been verified by an accredited certification institute for its compatibility with mechanical paper recycling, supporting circular economy objectives.

Designed for high-speed production environments, the coating maintains stability across different paper weights and is engineered to resist common migrants in paper substrates, ensuring consistent performance during manufacturing.
Although primarily developed for food applications, the solution can also be used in secondary packaging and collection cards that traditionally depended on plastic-intensive structures.
