The SoFruPak packaging line uses cardboard combined with cellulose film. The materials contain no plastic and are designed to maintain product freshness. The packaging is recyclable and biodegradable within 24 weeks. Because the cardboard and cellulose film can be processed together, the system offers an alternative to PET packaging at a time when regulatory requirements are becoming stricter.
Adam Sikorski, Commercial Director of SoFruPak, said, "Our partnership with Quality Pack allows us to bring truly sustainable packaging solutions to the Benelux market. Together, we make it easy for companies to meet regulatory requirements and consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging, without compromising on convenience or product quality."
The partnership aligns with ongoing EU legislation that is expected to require broader adoption of environmentally friendly materials in fruit and vegetable packaging. SoFruPak has been active in the fresh produce sector for several years and has received awards for its packaging concepts between 2016 and 2023.
The collaboration provides Benelux growers, packers, and auctions with access to packaging designed to meet evolving regulatory expectations while offering an option for companies aiming to reduce plastic use in their supply chains.
