Ahlstrom has launched two new grease-resistant food packaging papers, Grease-Gard PLUS and Grease-Gard PRO, strengthening its offering for the North American quick-service restaurant (QSR) and food service market.
The new papers are designed to address the growing demand for high-performance, paper-based food packaging solutions that combine grease resistance, converting performance and sustainability.
Grease-Gard PLUS offers enhanced water holdout alongside the proven grease resistance of Ahlstrom’s Grease-Gard® range. Designed with recyclability in mind, the paper provides an alternative to wax-treated papers for food service applications exposed to moisture and condensation. It can be used for wraps, bags and other food packaging formats, while also offering good printability and converting performance.
Grease-Gard PRO targets premium food service applications where high grease resistance and heat retention are critical. The paper is designed as a paper-based alternative to traditional foil bags and wraps, helping reduce reliance on aluminium while maintaining food quality and freshness. Applications include hot sandwiches, burgers, burritos and other grab-and-go foods.
According to Ahlstrom, the two products also simplify its Grease-Gard portfolio, helping converters, distributors and food brands select packaging papers according to specific performance requirements.
The launch reflects the broader shift within the food service industry toward fiber-based and more recyclable packaging solutions, as brands seek alternatives to conventional waxed, plastic and aluminium-based formats.
Grease-Gard PLUS and Grease-Gard PRO are now commercially available across North America through Ahlstrom’s sales network.
