    Tamper Evident Packaging (TEP) is a broad category of packaging practices and technology that alerts the consumer of foul play or damage to the product during the B2C route. This is usually useful for international shipments or high-value local shipments that are delivered to the consumer through a third party. As opposed to Tamper Resistant Packaging, which is designed to be very hard to open, Tamper Evident Packaging provides a visual indication of tampering.

  • Packaging Connections 2021: A New Start

    We had two sessions of this webinar on the services of Packaging Connections 2021 on 12th January 2021. We had a good number of registrations from across the globe and understood that more and more people are looking for services supported remotely. It has been a good way to share the information without traveling and we could utilize our time better. Of course, face to face meeting has its own charm but I think digital is the next best way and in some cases even better. This can certainly help to reduce traveling and so the carbon footprint and then we can travel once in a while.

  • AR Packaging completes its acquisition of the pharma packaging specialist Kroha

    AR Packaging continues its successful growth development in line with the strategic plan to expand in selected segments and geographies. The German based Kroha GmbH is a specialist in folding carton packaging and leaflets for pharmaceuticals. The company is an attractive addition to the Group’s product offering and strengthens its capabilities to service both mid-sized and large customers in the pharmaceutical industry.

    SIG's SIGNATURE PACK is aimed primarily at the food and beverage industries, but is said to also be applicable to pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals

    Consumer demand for environmentally friendly products and sustainable packaging is behind the company’s development of the SIGNATURE PACK.

    The SIGNATURE PACK drives the replacement of conventional plastics from fossil fuels with certified and sustainable plant-based polymer materials. The polymers used for laminating the paperboard and for making the spout originate from renewable European wood sources and are certified according to ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) or CMS 71 (TÜV SÜD certification standard), respectively, via a mass balance system. This means that for the polymers used in the SIGNATURE PACK, an equivalent amount of bio-based feedstock went into the manufacturing of the polymers.

    The development an aseptic carton pack fully linked to renewable plant materials is challenging in that storing products in aseptic packages without refrigeration over a long period requires higher barrier requirements than chilled packages.

     NFC technology has a lot to offer in smart packaging applications – it can be used for tamper evidence, secure authentication, end-to-end traceability, and easy re-ordering.

    In the case of pharmaceutical products it can also connect the patient to instructions, video and audio guides, help lines, social media support groups, and even to their doctor or clinician.

    Previously, this functionality was restricted to high-value or high-risk products, due to the cost of traditional NFC inlays and their Integrated Circuits (ICs or “chips”). These options can now be embedded in cost-sensitive, everyday healthcare and pharmaceutical products.

    These new cost-effective smart solutions are Avery Dennison’s NFC inlays, which include NFC ICs from the ConnectIC range of products manufactured by PragmatIC, a UK-based manufacturer of low-cost electronics.

    These flexible ICs (“FlexICs”) are thinner than a human hair and robust, they are suitable for small diameter objects and provide a solution for adding a unique identity to cost-sensitive products, for example small syringes, or vials.

    Avery Dennison’s inlays with ConnectIC chips have been adopted by Schreiner MediPharm.They have develops specialty labels and self-adhesive marking solutions for the pharmaceutical and medical device industry.
