Starlinger Champions Plastic as the Packaging of the Future with Circular and High-Tech Bag Innovations

Starlinger is positioning plastic as the most sustainable packaging option through its advanced, recyclable solutions showcased at the “K” trade fair and its in-house exhibition in Austria. CSO Harald Neumüller emphasized that “plastic is not the problem, it’s the solution,” highlighting the company’s innovations in mono-material, “design for recycling” packaging.

Key highlights include the Circular Packaging concept, which turns used woven plastic bags—like the durable AD*STAR cement bags—into new ones, some with up to 40% post-consumer recycled content. The versatile **ADSTAR prime range offers high flexibility, moisture protection, and 100% recyclability for industries from construction to food.

Starlinger will also unveil the ad*starKON SE and CX bag conversion lines, pushing production speeds, automation, and quality control to new levels. Meanwhile, the PP*STAR pinch bottom bag technology replaces glue with welding, delivering attractive, fully recyclable packaging for sensitive products such as animal feed and cereals.

Neumüller called for stronger political and economic incentives to establish closed-loop systems across the packaging value chain, stressing that with the right conditions, “plastic packaging will become the most sustainable packaging.”
