In this case the requirement was to ship several long pipes with small diameters in a wooden crate. The benefit of using wooden crates is that they can be used for packaging with minimal amount of wood. In this case since the pipes were long it would have required a lot of material to create one big wooden crate. So two such crates were made to create a platform on which the pipes could be loaded. The pipes had to be choked and lashed inside these two wooden crates to ensure that they did not move while transportation. These two wooden crates were finally stacked one on top of the other and then put in an open top container.
