Klöckner Pentaplast Introduces Recyclable Pizza Packaging Designed to Keep Pizzas Hotter for Longer

Global packaging manufacturer Klöckner Pentaplast (kp) has expanded its kp Infinity® foodservice portfolio with the launch of kp Infinity® Tavola™, a recyclable pizza packaging solution designed to maintain food temperature while improving product protection and presentation.

Launching in the UK and selected European markets from September 2026, the packaging has been developed for quick-service restaurants (QSRs), pizzerias and food delivery businesses looking to maintain pizza quality during transportation.

Designed for improved heat retention

The new packaging uses a precisely engineered, fully recyclable extruded polypropylene (XPP) structure designed to retain heat while containing oil, grease and food residue.

Comparative testing by kp demonstrated that pizzas packed in kp Infinity® Tavola™ remained up to 7.3°C hotter after five minutes compared with traditional alternatives. The company also reports that the temperature advantage remained measurable even after one hour.

Two-part design offers operational flexibility

The packaging consists of two identical interlocking components, allowing foodservice operators to adapt the format to different serving requirements.

  • Takeaway and delivery: The two components connect to form a secure, lidded box.
  • Dine-in: The box can be opened to support food presentation and service.

The packaging is available in a 12-inch format and arrives flat, eliminating the need for assembly and helping operators save storage space and preparation time.

Recyclable alternative to traditional pizza boxes

Unlike conventional cardboard pizza boxes, kp Infinity® Tavola™ does not absorb oil or allow cheese to stick to the packaging. This helps prevent food contamination that can complicate paper recycling.

The solution is designed to be fully recyclable within appropriate polypropylene collection and recycling streams. The company says the development can help foodservice operators respond to evolving packaging sustainability requirements while maintaining the functional performance needed for food delivery.

Supporting brand differentiation

The launch builds on kp's existing Infinity® Hotpacs® range and extends the portfolio into the pizza packaging category. For larger orders, the boxes can also be customised with embossing, giving foodservice brands an opportunity to strengthen their visual identity through packaging.

According to Austin Schwarz, Sales Director, UK&I at kp, the solution was developed in response to customer requirements around delivery performance, food quality, operational efficiency and consumer experience.

With kp Infinity® Tavola™, the company aims to combine heat retention, food protection and recyclable material design in a packaging format suited to modern pizza takeaway and delivery operations.
