Innovia Films Recognized as FESPA UK Champion for Advancing Circular Recycling in Polypropylene Films !

Innovia Films, a global material science leader and major producer of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, has been named a Champion within the FESPA UK Waste Accreditation Program. The recognition highlights the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing and transparent, circular waste management in the UK graphics sector.

As a supplier of PVC-free polypropylene films, Innovia Films offers brand owners and converters environmentally responsible alternatives without compromising performance or print quality. All materials for the graphics market are produced at the company’s Wigton facility in Cumbria—supporting local manufacturing, lowering carbon footprint, and ensuring secure, reliable supply chains.

Becoming a FESPA UK Champion is a pivotal milestone in our sustainability journey,” said Pieter du Plessis, Market Development Manager – Graphics at Innovia Films. “We are proud to work alongside FESPA UK and our industry partners to advance a transparent and truly circular approach to polypropylene film recycling. Together, we can make a measurable impact on the sustainability of our sector.”

Through the Waste Accreditation Program, Innovia Films will:

  • Strengthen industry collaboration by working with like-minded organizations through FESPA UK's not-for-profit network
  • Maintain full traceability and accountability in managing waste from its self-adhesive polypropylene films
  • Enable customers’ end-of-life materials to be responsibly collected and returned to the Wigton site for recycling
  • Gain actionable insight through quarterly reporting, including handled volumes, customer participation, and future recycling projections
  • Simplify participation for customers, with logistics, financial arrangements, and waste handling managed entirely by accredited providers

As a Champion of the program, Innovia Films aims to set a benchmark for sustainability in the graphics industry by demonstrating leadership in recyclable film production and supporting the development of a scalable, transparent circular system for polypropylene films in the UK.

Innovia Films’ dedication to local production and responsible end-of-life management sets a strong precedent for the industry,” du Plessis added.
