BW Packaging has enhanced its Hayssen ISB (Intelligent Sanitary Bagger)—a vertical form-fill-seal system—with the company’s proprietary OpView™ human-machine interface (HMI). The award-winning interface is designed to simplify machine operation and streamline troubleshooting for packaging line operators.
“What’s special about OpView™ is that regardless of an operator’s experience level, they can easily set up, operate, and troubleshoot the machine using its modern interface in English, Spanish, or French,” said Joe Ambrose, Director of Innovation-Controls at BW Packaging. “It provides a valuable solution for manufacturing facilities where experienced operators are increasingly difficult to find.”
Since its introduction in 2020, the Hayssen ISB has established new benchmarks in hygienic packaging machine design, particularly for wet manufacturing environments such as fresh salads, prepared produce, and frozen foods including chicken and vegetables. The system features a sloped, open-channel stainless steel frame that supports IP66-rated washdown, helping manufacturers reduce the risk of listeria contamination and avoid costly product recalls.
The vertical form-fill-seal bagger incorporates several intelligent design features to improve usability and performance. These include colored status lighting for real-time machine alerts, a walk-through frame for easier maintenance access, and scaling and center lining technology to ensure consistent bag quality. The machine can run bags up to 21 inches wide, supporting both in-line and transverse zipper formats, and can reach speeds of up to 150 bags per minute.
