YPS Launches Industry-Leading 98% Recycled Content Flexible Film for Shrink Wrapping and Bagging

Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS) has taken a major step forward in sustainable packaging innovation with the introduction of a flexible polyethylene (PE) film containing an impressive 98% recycled content, making it one of the most eco-friendly flexible films currently available on the market.

The newly launched material, now in stock at YPS, is designed for shrink wrapping and bagging applications and promises to drastically reduce the use of virgin plastic, contributing to a significantly lower environmental footprint for users. According to Josh Gibson, Sales Director at YPS, “This new material contains the highest level of recycled content of any flexible film on the market. For our customers, this means a reduced environmental footprint by virtually removing the use of virgin material.”

In addition to its green credentials, the film delivers on performance. Its high-grade formulation allows for reduced thickness, enabling brands to lower their overall plastic use by up to and in some cases more than 15%, without compromising on quality or durability.

The film is available in a variety of widths, colors, and can also be printed in up to 12 colors, allowing brands to combine sustainability with standout shelf appeal and customized messaging.

What sets this material apart in a market increasingly filled with sustainability claims is its robust third-party certification:

  • ISCC PLUS Certification, which ensures the product meets strict standards for circularity and supply chain sustainability.
  • Plastica Seconda Vita (Plastic Second Life) certification from Italy’s IPPR, confirming the quality and traceability of the recycled source materials.

“As both an equipment and materials supplier for automated packaging lines, YPS is uniquely positioned to guide customers in creating end-to-end sustainable solutions,” Gibson added. “We’re not just supplying greener films we’re helping our partners reduce packaging waste across their operations.”

All YPS-supplied materials are 100% recyclable, and many, like this new film, come with significant recycled content. The announcement comes as YPS continues its broader environmental push, having recently declared its commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2035.

This launch marks another milestone for YPS in making sustainability practical, scalable, and accessible one roll at a time.
