Amcor and Bulldog Team Up to Cut Plastic and Boost Sustainability in Skincare Packaging

In a move that reflects the growing pressure on brands to reduce plastic use without compromising performance, global packaging leader Amcor has unveiled a new milestone in its partnership with UK-based skincare brand Bulldog: a redesigned, lightweight flexible tube that uses over 16% less plastic.

This innovation focuses on Bulldog’s 100ml and 150ml products, where Amcor has managed to cut the wall thickness of each 50mm diameter tube sleeve by 16.67%. The result? A projected annual plastic savings of approximately 8.5 metric tonnes a clear win for the environment.

But the innovation doesn’t stop at weight reduction. The revamped tubes now contain more than 62% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, bolstering Bulldog’s long-standing commitment to sustainability. Since 2017, Bulldog has been using bioplastic made from certified sugarcane, a byproduct of food production that reduces dependency on fossil fuels.

To ensure these changes didn’t impact the user experience, Amcor conducted extensive trials, validating the new tube’s squeezability, print quality, and leak resistance. Importantly, the redesign didn’t require any changes to the caps or shoulders, preserving the integrity of the filling process.

“This is the latest step in Bulldog’s journey toward making better, more sustainable packaging choices,” said James Barnes, Brand Director at Bulldog. “We’re proud to work with a partner like Amcor that shares our values and helps bring meaningful innovation to market.”

Joe Horton, Sales Director at Amcor, added, “This lighter, smarter tube is more than just good design it’s a sign of what’s possible when brands and suppliers collaborate toward circular packaging solutions.”

This development not only enhances Bulldog’s environmental credentials but also sets an inspiring precedent for other brands looking to combine performance with sustainability.
