Berries Pride introduces new sustainable blueberry packaging

After searching for an alternative to the plastic punnet, together with Bama Packaging, the company found the solution in using cardboard as the main material in order to "drastically" reduce the production and waste of new plastic.

The square shape is also an advantage as it allows Berries Pride to transport 65 percent more weight on a euro pallet.

Doing this reduces CO2 emissions related to transport and as a result, scales down their climate footprint over time.

Refined banana fibre alternative for moulded food packaging

Banana fibre is sourced from banana palm trunks and is a by-product of banana production, meaning it’s renewable and already grown in abundance. There are approximately 3000 hectares of banana plantations in Australia and it is estimated that globally, banana plantations cover more than 10 million hectares, with approximately 2.2 billion tonnes of agri-waste created annually.

By harnessing this globally available agri-waste product in the production of moulded food packaging, the environmental benefits are four-fold:

Scientists at Solvay have developed an innovative process that could revolutionize the future recycling of PVDC food packaging

Brussels, September 28, 2021 - Solvay, a science company delivering high performance materials for safe and reliable food packaging, has conducted a proof of concept showing that polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) has the potential to be recycled. PVDC is used in food, beverage and healthcare multilayer barrier packaging across the world.

B&R introduces a new PLC family: X20 Embedded. The PLCs combine high performance and numerous integrated interfaces in a housing only 55 mm wide. That makes them only half the width of comparable devices. 
With their powerful Intel Atom processors, the new PLCs are also suitable for demanding applications with short cycle times. The compact devices can even control a full-fledged robotics application. Machine builders save both costs and cabinet space.
