Amcor Eco-Tite R, launched in the European market, is designed to maximise shelf-life, maintain food safety, reduce food waste, and it can be recycled in polyethylene plastic recycling streams where they exist.

Amcor Eco-Tite R is a multi-layer, mono-PE packaging that maintains a high barrier ot oxygen and water vapour, even when exposed to high-moisture environments such as cooler cases and refrigerators. The company said the new shrink bag provides an alternative to PVDC packaging, which is not recyclable in mechanical or chemical recycling systems.

The German biogas plant specialist WELTEC BIOPOWER registers keen interest in its plant technology in Greece. In the past year, WELTEC expanded its market leadership in the southern European country by building four further projects and expanding three existing plants. Due to the great potential of organic residues to produce biogas and biomethane, especially in the north of the country, the climate-friendly energy source is playing an increasingly important role in the Greek energy transition.

The initiative, Waste Free World, is the first of its type and could accelerate the process of returning high grade plastic back into a closed-loop recycling system.

There are currently 20 of the recycling machines installed in offices and community spaces in Shanghai and Hangzhou.

During the course of 2021, 500 of the deposit machines will be put into market, mainly in the Shanghai and Hangzhou area, collecting up to 500 tonnes of plastic.

The project will also contribute to changing consumer behaviour through the incentive of Unilever coupons and AliPay rewards.

Berlin, 9 September 2020 – In response to the new report “Biodegradable and compostable plastics – challenges and opportunities” by the European Environment Agency (EEA), European Bioplastics (EUBP) highlights the need to acknowledge successful precedents in the deployment of these innovative materials in collaboration with a receptive community of consumers. Unfortunately, several media outlets made use of a biased interpretation of the report to draw a distorted picture of biodegradable and compostable plastics.
