SABIC, Lamb Weston and OPACKGROUP come together to create sustainable packaging made with bio-renewable polyethylene

SABIC, a global leader in the chemical industry, has joined forces with Lamb Weston, a major global brand owner and producer of frozen potato products, in a closed-loop process designed to create low-weight sustainable packaging bags made with a thin coextrusion film structure.  At least 60% of the packaging is made with polymer using bio-feedstock from used cooking oil (UCO).

Sensei Farms reduces plastic by 90% with new packaging

Sensei Farms says new packaging introduced across its line of leafy greens and salad mixes has a 90% reduction in plastic by weight compared to its previous clamshell.

The new design helps the company meet its sustainability goals while keeping the same functionality and food safety features of conventional clamshells, according to a news release.

Eastman Receives 8 RecyClass Approvals

Eastman received RecyClass Recyclability Approvals for eight copolyester resins and their equivalent Renew grades, containing recycled content.
 
two of Eastman's resins, Cristal EN067 and Cristal EN059 were also recognized as limited compatible.
 
Six copolyesters, also known as specialty PET, were classified as fully compatible with the state-of-the-art recycling processes for PET bottles in Europe. This includes:

Mitsui Chemicals jointly develops pouch made from recycled flexible packaging film

A partnership of three companies has been working since August 2023 on a joint pilot test for the horizontal recycling of printed BOPP flexible packaging film. And now, the three companies – TOPPAN Holdings Inc. (Tokyo: 7911) group company TOPPAN Inc. (President & Representative Director: SAITO Masanori), RM Tohcello Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda, Tokyo; President & CEO: MATSUZAKA Shigeharu) and Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: HASHIMOTO Osamu) – have developed a recycled BOPP film suitable for mass production.
