SPX FLOW Co-Founds Coalition to Revolutionize Europe’s Food Manufacturing Landscape

In a bold step toward transforming the future of food production, SPX FLOW, alongside industry giants Alfa Laval, Krones, and Tetra Pak, has co-founded a groundbreaking initiative—Food Manufacturing Technologies Europe (FMTE). This newly formed coalition is set to serve as a unified voice for the food manufacturing technologies and equipment sector in Europe.

As the food tech sector navigates through rapid technological advancements, evolving regulatory demands, and environmental imperatives, FMTE aims to foster innovation while building a resilient, competitive, and sustainable European food system.

Closing a Critical Industry Gap

Europe’s food manufacturing technologies industry projected to reach €118.4 billion by 2030 lacks centralized representation despite its significant contributions to the global market. FMTE seeks to bridge this gap by aligning the fragmented sector and ensuring that its innovation potential is amplified at the policy level.

“We created a platform that enables a stronger, collective voice in shaping Europe’s food manufacturing future,” the FMTE Board stated. “In this crucial time for our industry, collaboration is key to delivering tangible impact through innovation and sustainability.”

FMTE’s Core Objectives:

  • Strengthen Sector Resilience & Competitiveness: Promote collaboration across industry stakeholders to align with EU priorities and enhance the sector’s global standing.
  • Drive Innovation & Sustainability: Scale cutting-edge technologies that reduce environmental impact, improve energy and water efficiency, and minimize waste all while contributing to the EU’s climate goals.
  • Champion Policy Engagement: Actively shape regulatory frameworks through evidence-based input and insights, creating a supportive environment for food tech innovation.

Open Collaboration for Greater Impact

FMTE brings together manufacturers of mechanical and digital food processing equipment, aiming to catalyze collaboration between industry leaders, EU policymakers, and academia. The coalition will function as a hub for expertise, data, and policy intelligence, accelerating the adoption of next-gen food tech solutions.

By aligning efforts, FMTE aspires to elevate the global competitiveness of European food manufacturers and lead the way in sustainable and smart food production technologies.

As the food industry faces pressing challenges from supply chain disruptions to environmental sustainability FMTE marks a significant stride toward securing a future-ready, high-performing food system for Europe.
