Lush has consistently led the way in ethical practice with their fresh, vegetarian homemade cosmetics. The brand has utilised schemes in the past to encourage their shoppers to recycle and reuse, often offering rewards in these circumstances.

The packaging will be sent to Lush’s Greenhub in Dorset where it will be sorted and processed before being sent to its UK recycling partners to be turned into new black Lush pots or for use in other industries.

The concentrate in each refill packet reconstitutes, with water, to make 7.5 fluid ounces of foaming hand wash. The refills come in three formulations: Aloe-Scented, Lavender-Scented, and Sea Breeze-Scented. Each refill carton contains two packets.

According to Dial, each packet uses 95% less plastic than a single-use, 7.5-oz Dial Foaming Hand Wash bottle. In addition, the packets are recyclable through TerraCycle.

The refills also help reduce transportation-related carbon emissions by 85%, based on truck weight and product uses per truck.

The paper packaging, which replaces the plastic film wrapping that is typically difficult to recycle at home, is 100% recyclable and FSC certified.

The toilet paper and kitchen sheets themselves are made of 100% recycled paper. Additionally, the production process for both the rolls and packaging uses fully renewable energy at the retailer’s local sites across the UK.

Morrisons’ new jumbo kitchen rolls retail at £3 for a two-pack, whilst the nine-pack toilet roll costs £3.50. Both products are now available in store and online.

Coveris targets Europe with new RecyclaPEel MAP sandwich skillet

Coveris said that the product targets the European food-on-the-move sector and is an evolution of Coveris’ peelable and separable RecyclaPEel sandwich skillet made from cartonboard and PE liner components.

According to Coveris, the design of RecyclaPEel MAP enables the lined corners to form a tight gas seal. When packed using a gas-flush process, the tight seal retains control of pack atmosphere over the lifecycle of the product, extending shelf life “significantly beyond the four days achieved with Coveris’ lined board skillets typically used in the UK market”.

ITS’ technology will enable restaurants, cafes, offices, stadiums, and other venues to offer brands in CCEP’s portfolio via self-service taps. Through this system, consumers can refill their own drinks and pay for the quantity served themselves, directly through the tap.

The self-pour, self-pay technology offers consumers a packaging-free delivery method for their drinks, while also aiming to cut down queues, reduce the need for unnecessary contact, and free up serving staff – features that are beneficial as COVID-19 restrictions lift.
