Pusterla Pollards creates Hotel Chocolat hamper box with sustainability focus

Hotel Chocolat says over 94% of its packaging has been recyclable or reusable since 2021, and the hamper packaging had to both address on-shelf appeal as well as sustainability.

The box features embossed ecofoil finish that covers the lid of the box, with a plastic-free lamination. The lid is embossed in-house by Pollards with a wave texture and a simple black fluted Hotel Chocolat logo in the centre. All print features use vegetable-based inks.

Researchers develop tomato pomace lacquers to coat inner surfaces of metal packaging

A biodegradable alternative made of tomato pomace has been developed to coat the inner surface of metal food packaging, including food and beverage cans.

The lacquer has been developed by researchers from the Instituto de Hortofruiticultura in Malaga and the Instituto de Ciencia de los Materiales in Seville, Spain. It uses the by-products obtained after processing tomatoes.
