Argos Packaging has unveiled two innovative films for packaging fresh products: one from seaweed, the other from recycled ocean plastic. Both meet EU requirements and help make packaging more environmentally friendly without compromising safety or performance.
Norifresh – a sealable packaging film intended for direct contact with food products, is 100% made from biomaterials, including seaweed. It fully complies with the forthcoming PPWR requirements for single-use plastic packaging for fruits and vegetables. The film works on existing sealing equipment, processes at the same speed as conventional films, and can be applied to uncoated carton trays or to pulp-carton trays.
The second innovation is a BOPP film with Prevented Ocean Plastic, created in collaboration with Bantam Materials UK and Innovia Films. Intended for direct contact with food products. It is made from mechanically recycled polypropylene sourced from waste that could have ended up in the ocean.
