Sanner Expands Global Footprint with Launch of US Manufacturing Facility in Greensboro, North Carolina

In a major milestone for its global growth strategy, healthcare packaging and medical device specialist Sanner has officially opened its first manufacturing facility in North America. Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, the new 60,500-square-foot site marks a significant step forward for the company’s commitment to offering localized, high-quality, and efficient production services to its MedTech and pharmaceutical clients in the United States.

The Greensboro facility is equipped to handle both Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) services and the production of advanced pharmaceutical packaging. It features state-of-the-art GMP-compliant infrastructure, including class 7 and 8 cleanrooms, a white room, and comprehensive laboratory capabilities for testing and metrology. An additional 20,000 square feet of expandable space ensures the company can quickly scale operations to meet growing market demands.

“We are thrilled to open Sanner Group’s first North American injection molding and pharma desiccant packaging facility,” said Ted Mosler, President of Sanner US. “Strategically located in North Carolina, the facility is supported by our robust design and development teams in Durham and Pittsboro, allowing us to provide a seamless, end-to-end service model.”

Among the first products to roll off the production lines in Greensboro are effervescent containers, the high-performance DASG-1 desiccant closure, and AdCap® desiccant canisters. With automated, high-speed desiccant filling lines now operational, Sanner is positioned to provide reliable, US-made packaging solutions tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical manufacturers across North America.

This latest expansion follows a series of strategic moves by Sanner to bolster its global presence. In 2023, the company opened a second facility in Kunshan, China, and earlier this year launched a new, state-of-the-art headquarters and manufacturing site in Bensheim, Germany. The company also recently acquired Durham-based CDMO Gilero, deepening its expertise in medical device design and manufacturing.

Christian Classen, Chief Sales Officer of the Sanner Group, highlighted the broader vision behind the expansion: “The opening of our Greensboro site is a pivotal moment. It strengthens our position as a trusted CDMO partner in the US market while enhancing our capabilities in active primary healthcare packaging. With local production, we can now deliver faster, more reliably, and at the quality standards our customers have come to expect from Sanner.”

With a legacy spanning over 130 years, Sanner continues to lead in desiccant packaging, moisture management, and now, end-to-end medical device production reinforcing its commitment to innovation, quality, and proximity to customers worldwide.
