WEIMA America, Inc. marked a significant milestone, celebrating its 25th anniversary in the North American market with a two-day event at its Fort Mill, SC headquarters. The occasion was attended by team members, partners, and esteemed guests, including Peter Rössler, founder of WEIMA, and Managing Partner, Martin Friz, who traveled from Germany to join the festivities. The Carolina fall provided a welcoming atmosphere, adding to the celebratory spirit.

Zappar and Ketel One Collaborate to Launch Accessible QR Codes for Visually Impaired Consumers

According to Ketel One, these AQR codes are designed to enhance product accessibility for consumers who are blind or have low vision, providing easier identification and access to detailed product information.

The QR codes will appear on Ketel One’s bottled Espresso Martini and Cosmopolitan products from the company’s ‘Cocktail Collection,’ which are set to hit shelves later this month. The enhanced QR codes can be detected by accessibility apps such as Microsoft Seeing AI, Be My Eyes, and Envision.

University of Birmingham Unveils Groundbreaking Recyclable Resin for 3D Printing

In a major leap toward sustainable manufacturing, researchers from the University of Birmingham have developed an innovative bio-based 3D printing resin that can be fully recycled. This new photopolymer resin, made from lipoic acid—a naturally occurring fatty acid—promises to transform the environmental impact of 3D printing by enabling products to be broken down into their original components, recycled, and reprinted.

Biodegradable Plastic Dissolves in Water, Reducing Plastic Waste

Northeastern University researchers have developed an innovative bioplastic that breaks down in water, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional plastic. Called MECHS, which stands for Mechanical Engineered Living Materials with Compostability, Healability and Scalability, this plastic is derived from engineered E. coli bacteria and a fiber matrix, creating a film-like material that biodegrades faster than other biodegradable plastics. The study was recently published in Nature Communications.

Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe (AGP-Europe), an operating business of Ardagh Group, has worked with The Absolut Group to create the 2024 limited edition Absolut vodka bottle. The new design is Absolut Warhol, which celebrates the legacy of collaboration between Andy Warhol and Absolut Vodka, mixing the past into the present.
Andy Warhol was the first in a long line of renowned artists to create a piece of art for Absolut Vodka’s advertising campaigns. The new limited-edition bottle brings to life Warhol’s rediscovered Absolut ‘blue’ painting from 1985.
