talabat’s new packaging, which will be available for selected restaurant partners and vendors to adopt, is 100% plant-based and contains no perfluoroalkoxy-alkanes (PFA), which are commonly known as forever chemicals, and cannot be broken down by nature. The packaging has also been rigorously tested to meet food safety, quality assurance, sustainability and ethical supply standards, talabat has said in a statement.

Australian supermarket chain Woolworths has replaced single-use plastic picnicware with an extended range of more sustainable items in all its stores across the country.

The move is part of the retailer’s plan to remove around 2.1 million kilograms of plastic a year.

The extended sustainable picnicware range includes wooden cutlery certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), as well as paper cups and plates.

Woolworths is also providing bowls and plates made from sugarcane pulp.

The trial will test two refill models: ‘Refill on the go’ and ‘Return on the go’ and include some of Unilever’s best-known brands.

Persil, Simple, Radox and Alberto Balsam will be available in reusable stainless-steel bottles, providing shoppers with a way to cut plastic consumption.

Unilever’s ‘return on the go’ scheme allows customers to pick up pre-filled stainless-steel bottles and return in-store once used, while the ‘refill on the go’ approach allows customers to purchase and refill re-useable stainless-steel bottles using a standalone refill machine in-store.
