Mobile machines are becoming increasingly autonomous. They require controllers that are not only compact, but also safe. B&R has expanded its X90 control system with an option board that allows floating-ground connection of external safety devices, making mobile machines even safer.

B&R has equipped the ACOPOS P3 servo drive with safe torque determination. This allows the use of numerous safety functions that previously would have required an external sensor. The cost of machinery directive compliance is reduced.

Safe torque determination is based on an internal current measurement and enables the safety functions Safely Limited Torque (SLT), Safe Speed Observer (SSO) and Safe Brake Test (SBT). The functions are suitable for applications up to SIL 2 / PL d / Cat. 3.

Safe prevention of overload

Roboze has equipped its flagship 3D printer – the ARGO 500 – with an advanced B&R automation solution. The printer integrates additive manufacturing into the industrial production workflow with repeatable high precision and full process control. It reduces lead times and lowers the cost of creating custom metal-replacement components used under extreme conditions in industries such as aerospace, energy and motorsport.

B&R introduces a new PLC family: X20 Embedded. The PLCs combine high performance and numerous integrated interfaces in a housing only 55 mm wide. That makes them only half the width of comparable devices. 
With their powerful Intel Atom processors, the new PLCs are also suitable for demanding applications with short cycle times. The compact devices can even control a full-fledged robotics application. Machine builders save both costs and cabinet space.

B&R's mapp Temperature software package provides a new pre-programmed way to get manufacturing systems up to temperature. At the push of a button, the Soft-Start function heats up machine components gently to minimize heating element fatigue – without any of the tedious programming that used to be involved. Homogeneous heating reduces mechanical stresses and allows for controlled evaporation of liquid residues in the machine.

B&R has added two particularly compact variants to its integrated motor-drive solution. Equipped with powerful processors, the new devices are perfect for applications where tight synchronization and positioning precision are paramount. With the new options, the ACOPOSmotor portfolio now covers a power range from 283 W to 2.3 kW.
