The move into China is part of Quadpack’s 2020-2025 business strategy, which sets out growth plans in each of its key territories of EMEA, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region. It follows last year’s opening of a sales office in Japan and the appointment of Raj Savji as Managing Director – Asia Pacific, to develop Quadpack’s presence in the region.

Jim Orford, K600i Product Manager from Domino Digital Printing Solutions, says: “Covid-19 has really accelerated the growth in e-commerce, a trend which is likely to remain after lockdown restrictions are lifted. Brand owners are also placing more emphasis on personalisation to engage with consumers through loyalty and promotional programmes, and to track their products through the supply chain. This has resulted in some of our label and packaging converter customers reporting a 40-50% increase in the demand for variable data printed labels during the pandemic.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Thermo Fisher will pay up to an additional $100 million in cash upon the completion of certain milestones following the close of the transaction.

As well as coronavirus, Mesa Biotech's point-of-care platform can also detect Influenza A and B, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and Strep A. The company is based in San Diego, California and has approximately 500 employees and revenues in 2020 of approximately $45 million.

Soon, a packet of Maggi, Kitkat or Nescafe coffee that you pick up at the store will sport a mask over the logo. Packaged foods major Nestle India is changing the packaging of its core brands Maggi, Kitkat, Nescafé, and Everyday in a bid to promote the importance of masking.

These changes are now being implemented at the company’s factory lines, and the product with the new packaging is expected to hit the market in a few weeks.

Nestle India said the idea is to leverage the power of its iconic brands to spread greater awareness of the importance of masking.
