 Today, we got an interesting request about the use of Latex liners in aluminium ROPP caps and the following questions had been raised:

  1. Whats the structure
  2. In what all thicknesses & densities it is used
  3. Its properties/reactivity
  4. Reason for limited used in industry
  5. Vendor & the cost.

I have no idea on these except that many a times latex leads to many allergies and is not compatible with many products. Polymer liners are easier to manufacture, easier to handle, better resistance etc. If you have any more information then please share,

sorry i dont have answer to any querries mentioned above, i am a student and doing my internship with a reknowned pharma giant..i just like to add one more question in that list..that whether an ROPP cap or Polymer cap..if we perform an induction sealing on any bottle ...what all are the test we should conduct to check the full proofness of seal?

leakage test using vacuum leakage or dye test. you can also try to see peel strength depending on the type of induction liner and the end use

The latex liners are made from blend of SBR and Natural rubber and are manufactured in thickness of 1.6mm +/- 0.2mm. The Sp. Gr.of these liners can vary depending on the composition between 0.92 to 1.05. These liners can be made to confirm to the pharmacopean or FDA requirement.. Latex liners  are preferred over the EP or cork liners, especially by the pharma companies, when leakage is a problem . Reasons for limited use is that the cost factor.
