“We were attracted to using Greiner Packaging’s perfectly recyclable K3 packaging due to its sustainability credentials,” said Tribe co-founder, Rob Martineau. “The lightweight PP cup is wrapped in a cardboard sleeve which can be easily separated to enable recycling.”

COP26 goes plastic-free with Re:Water – a new water brand bottled in 100% recycled aluminium

The British spring water brand, which uses 100% recycled aluminium bottles that are also 100% recyclable, is providing a bespoke COP26 custom-label bottle.

COP26 marks the second time Re:Water has been chosen by the government as the eco-friendly brand was appointed as the official water supplier for delegates at the G7 Summit in Cornwall in June.

Re:Water is also announcing today that it has signed up to the United Nations-backed global campaign Race to Zero, which aims to halve global emissions by 2030.

Recyclable silver ink aims to enable sustainable smart packaging

While printed electronics can be added to packaging to increase functionality through IoT monitoring and asset tracking, and to create new user experiences for the next generation of technology-savvy consumers, it can make recycling of the packaging material more complex or even impossible.

The new, low-temperature curing ink was developed for screen printing conductive tracks, to provide a route to scale up the technology using commercially available processes.

Berry Launches Recycled Content Large Containers with Additional UN Approvals

Berry Global’s technical and manufacturing skills have achieved a significant breakthrough in the packaging of hazardous liquids. The company has now launched the first 20 and 25 litre containers containing 35% recycled material, which have UN Approval for the transport of hazardous goods for five of the six model liquids in the UN assessment.

In addition to the existing UN approval for water, the new containers also have approval for wetting solution, acetic acid, white spirit, and N-butyl acetate.

Optimised peel, tack, and durability properties, clarity, and performance are among the reported benefits of this adhesive; it also claims to preserve the appearance of a label in challenging temperatures and environments.

Meanwhile, H.B. Fuller’s Gel-Tac products are based on water-based acrylic, pressure-sensitive microsphere technology. Reportedly, it allows labels to be removed without leaving visible residue, markings, or damage – as such, it enables the easy repositioning or replacement of masking tapes, liner-less labels, tape constructions, and more.
