In a world where snack enthusiasts often face the dilemma of breaking their snack pouches while trying to access their favorite treats, a team at packaging machine producer Rovema posed a crucial question: Could they redesign pouches to be both convenient and environmentally friendly, all while safeguarding the delicious contents within?

This challenge led to a collaboration with Walki, a renowned packaging solutions company. Walki was the natural choice for this innovative endeavor, as their expertise and knowledge in various materials made them the ideal partner.

Founder and director of her eponymous jewellery brand, Lucy Quartermaine commented on the shift: “I’m thrilled to introduce our new sustainable packaging, a true embodiment of our brand’s essence and an expression of our respect for the environment.

Plastipak, a global leader in the design, manufacturing and recycling of plastic containers, announced today the creation of the lightest preform solution for a 20 liter stackable container in the European market, which will eliminate around 200 tons of CO2 emissions each year. As partner in the project, PVG Liquids carried out the validation of the light weight stackable container.

Switching to Paptic® material: a significant reduction in plastic waste, cost savings in logistics, and enhanced in-store display  

“We chose Paptic® for our packaging because we wanted to use a renewable material. It looked great and it was strong enough for the job.

Desi Pak® ECO desiccant packets are a specially designed moisture adsorbing solution focused on sourcing raw materials, and transportation packaging, with a lower environmental impact. They contain granulated bentonite clay that is highly adsorbent, naturally occurring, and responsibly mined. Packaging consists of plastic-free, bio-based paper. Desi Pak ECO carries the Clariant EcoTain® label for products with outstanding sustainability advantages.

Lantmännen Unibake and a third-party food industry development company conducted thorough testing and analysis on the impact of packaging materials on the taste of the frozen bread; as a result UPM Asendo was chosen as the inner liner for the cardboard box.
