Marks & Spencer Trials Paper Packaging for Chocolate Bars, Targets Major Plastic Reduction

Marks & Spencer (M&S) is taking another step forward in its mission to reduce plastic waste, launching a trial of paper-based packaging for its best-selling Vanilla Fudge Bar. The retailer, known for its sustainability efforts, announced that the switch to paper will make the packaging easier to recycle, whether at home or on the go.

A new sustainability initiative is making waves in the packaging industry. Green Rock, a newly formed alliance, is dedicated to promoting fully recyclable packaging solutions for the food and beverage sector. With growing consumer demand for eco-friendly alternatives, this initiative aims to accelerate the shift toward a circular economy.

This collaboration builds on Nextek's success in winning the 'Circular Solutions for Flexibles' award from the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW). The award was granted in recognition of Nextek's innovative COtooCLEAN technology, which uses a unique waterless cleaning and decontamination process to produce food-grade recycled materials from post-consumer plastic film. 

TIPA, a global leader in compostable packaging solutions, and Fresh-Lock closures, a leading brand in reclosable flexible packaging technology, are collaborating to advance the adoption of home compostable packaging. Through these united efforts, the Fresh-Lock team is launching a new portfolio of home compostable closures for pouches. These new reclosable solutions for flexible packaging are designed with TIPA's proprietary home compostable resin formulation for various end-use markets including food, nutraceuticals, home and personal care, and more.

Berry Global and Green Oil Team Up for 100% Recycled Plastic Lubricant Bottle

A pioneering bottle and closure solution from Berry Global, made entirely from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, is helping Green Oil drive its mission to “lubricate the world without polluting it.”

Green Oil, known for its eco-friendly lubricants, offers an alternative to traditional petrochemical-based products. The company’s plant-based formulas are fully biodegradable and free from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a non-biodegradable chemical often found in lubricants.

kp Launches UK’s First 100% Recycled Tray2Tray® Pilot with Tesco and Hilton Foods

In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable food packaging, Klöckner Pentaplast (kp) has launched the UK’s first-ever pilot for food trays made entirely from recovered tray material. Partnering with Tesco and Hilton Foods, the initiative will see Tesco’s Finest minced beef packed in kp’s 100% recycled PET (rPET) Tray2Tray® packaging—marking a major step forward in achieving circularity in food packaging.
