Gerresheimer, an innovative systems and solutions provider and global partner for the pharma, biotech and cosmetics industries is pleased to announce that its sustainable packaging solution consisting of the Gx Amsterdam glass jar in combination with the bio-based forewood closure has been selected for the launch of an innovative cosmetic product by the German start-up 4peoplewhocare. The new product was presented at the Vivaness trade show, February 13-16,2024 in Nuremberg, Germany, and will be available online and in selected stores by April 2024.

Mondi takes data-driven approach to analyse Hug&Hold's environmental impact.
Critically reviewed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) compares the product to conventional plastic shrink wrap for 6 1.5 l PET beverage bundles.
ISO-compliant approach shows the paper packaging performs better across several impact categories, including 43% less climate change impact than plastic.

EU Policy. Governments agree packaging waste law despite international trade concerns

National diplomats have endorsed a new European law on packaging waste, including provisions that would hold overseas producers to EU environmental standards on plastic recycling at the risk of losing market access.

European Commission trade officials had taken the unusual step of lobbying governments directly to reject a so-called mirror clause in the draft law, warning of a serious potential impact on international commerce and diplomatic complications.

EVERY CAN COUNTS has established a U.S. chapter to expand its global movement to inspire, encourage, and empower more people to recycle aluminum beverage cans. The U.S. chapter joins chapters in 20 other countries.

EVERY CAN COUNTS U.S. is a partnership between aluminum beverage can manufacturers (Ardagh Metal Packaging, CANPACK, Crown Holdings, and Envases) and aluminum suppliers (Constellium, Kaiser Aluminum, Novelis, and Tri-Arrows Aluminum).

Mondi breaks ground on €200 million recycled containerboard mill investment in Duino, Italy

Mondi is investing €200 million into a high-quality recycled containerboard machine with an annual capacity of around 420,000 tonnes at its Duino mill near Trieste, acquired in January 2023.
Investment is part of the company's €1.2 billion of approved investments in organic growth projects aimed at meeting the growing demand for sustainable packaging, enhancing its product offering, and reducing its environmental impact

Zero Bag packaging dissolves and washes new clothes

Kyeongho Park and Yejin Heo, designers majoring in industrial design at Hanyang University’s ERICA campus in the Republic of Korea, have created new clothing packaging that not only dissolves in water but disperses washing detergents. After purchasing new clothes wrapped in a Zero Bag, the buyer can run both the clothes and the packaging through a washing machine before wearing the items for the first time.
