The bans, set to take effect on September 1, mark Stage 4 for SA and Stage 2 for WA, the company said in a media release. 

The newly launched resources aim to help businesses identify which plastic products will be prohibited under the new regulations and offer certified compostable alternatives that meet compliance standards. 

Among the solutions highlighted by BioPak are their BioCane lids for paper bowls and containers, touted as a sustainable alternative to the commonly used clear plastic takeaway containers. 

This new product is certified by Interseroh Made for Recycling, TÜV Industrial Composting, TÜV Soil Biodegradable, and the self-declared International Organization for Standardization 14020 Water Biodegradable.

“At the end of its life cycle, Solutum’s material decomposes completely. When handled in a managed environment, Solutum biodegrades in industrial composting plants, and in unmanaged environments, including oceans, rivers or when openly dumped, Solutum film biodegrades in soil and natural waters," said Solutum founder and president Sharon Barak.
 

Frozen foods often stick to plastic packaging in the name of product protection, leaving less room for sustainable innovation. Italian frozen pizza brand Pizza A Mano out of the South Tyrol province is bucking that trend though, using Koehler Paper’s heat-sealable paper technology to bring recyclability to the freezer aisle.

The logo will roll out in fall 2024 to celebrate the company's century-long heritage as one of North America’s largest producers of carrots, according to a news release. The platform, available at www.myrecycledcontent.de/en/, provides a centralised data registry that helps companies find packaging solutions containing certified recycled content.

“myRecycledContent” connects suppliers and users of packaging that includes recycled plastics, ensuring that all listed products meet the required certifications. Users can freely search for suitable packaging solutions and view supplier contact details via the platform.
