 Lamb Weston has partnered with SABIC, a global chemical industry leader, and Oerlemans Plastics (a member of OPACKGROUP) to launch a sustainable, bio-based packaging solution for frozen potato products. This innovative packaging contains at least 60% bio-renewable polymers derived from used cooking oil (UCO), significantly reducing its carbon footprint by approximately 30%.

Thanks to its excellent laminating, shaping and printing properties, the flexible packaging paper "Koehler NexCoat® Smart" is ideally suited for the surface of the cap. The cap is available in standard diameters of 51 mm and 63.5 mm. Cap sizes with diameters of 45 mm und 55 mm are in the works.

Collaboration paves the way to greener packaging

• Circular Action Alliance will serve as the initial producer responsibility organization for Minnesota’s Packaging Waste and Cost Reduction Act, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency announced Tuesday.
• Minnesota passed the extended producer responsibility for packaging law in 2024. Producers must register in Minnesota by July 1.
• In confirming CAA, MPCA further cements the industry-founded, nonprofit producer responsibility organization’s reach.

Open to all startups registered on the Startup India portal, the deadline for application submission for the Packathon is 10th March 2025. This year, there will be one winner for each of the two categories — solutions in the prototype stage, and solutions in the ready-to-scale stage. The winner in the prototype category will win INR ~10 lakhs, and the winner in the ready-to-scale category will win INR ~15 lakhs. Shortlisted startups will be given the opportunity to showcase their innovations to interested restaurant partners.

Additionally, the responsible packaging solutions specialist has committed to a multi-year capacity reservation for PEF from a future industrial-scale facility. This is based on a technology license from Avantium. As a result, Amcor will gain preferred access to PEF volumes produced by Avantium's licensee network in the future.

ATLANTA – The Coca-Cola Company has unveiled a new set of voluntary environmental goals aimed at bolstering its commitment to sustainability. Focused on water security, packaging waste reduction, and emissions decrease, the refreshed goals extend through 2035 and reflect the company’s decades of sustainability initiatives and lessons learned.

The SCRUBS wipes themselves remain unchanged, continuing to provide heavy-duty cleaning for hands, tools, and machinery. Designed to remove grease, oil, adhesives, tar, ink, and paint without water, the wipes feature a dual-textured surface with an abrasive side to tackle tough residues without damaging surfaces.

The new packaging is designed to enhance brand visibility and aligns with the sustainability goals of ROCOL’s parent company, ITW Fluids. The updated label also offers a modernised, high-impact design.
